The past two days was all prep for basketball, testing, cleaning, packing and finally setting everything up to shoot. It’s been a while since we’ve done the basketball setup so I had to work off the rust. It takes a little bit to get back into the flow of things, had a few miscues but next game will be better. Sports photography seems a glamorous but behind the scenes, it’s a lot of work. Especially, when you set up strobes and remote cameras, a lot more can go wrong. There is a lot of wire, connections, pocket wizards, and sometimes frustration. When using remote cameras with strobes, they all fire at a different times, even though they appear to fire simultaneously. The orientation, camera model, lens size, everything factors the delay of the camera so you have to have a seperate pocket wizard with a set delay and one without (for the cameras you’re holding). I have a better understanding for it now, but I was a little confused at first. I plan to post up a diagram of the setup to give you a better idea of how the entire setup works. I also snapped a few photos also. Not the greatest photos, but they’re good for information. I will try and get those up today or tomorrow, along with the schematic. Stay tuned, enjoy.
