10 Cool Camera Hacks

I was browsing around the net and found a link that shows a couple awesome applications for your camera. They provide walkthroughs of how you can rig your camera to a kite for some nice landscape photographs with a higher vantage point. I always think about the quote I heard from Joe McNally where he speaks about “putting your camera in more interesting places”. Plus, I’ve always had a knack for taking things apart, then putting it all back together. Out of the 10, I’d probably only use a few of them, the rest are just interesting concepts that I’d probably never attempt, but cool to see what others have done with them.

Another one of my favorites was the meteor shower rig. From the photo, it looks like there are multiple film cameras filled with color negative films. There are some cords coming off the cameras, so I’m going to assume they are shutter releases, i know they’re set on 5 minute timers (long exposure), the photos look a little grainy though. If i was to do this method, I would probably try with a multimax, which has a time-lapse feature in the advanced settings which allows you to trigger the camera in time increments. You won’t have to sit around with a shutter release cable in your hand, and its consistent. Using a newer camera would be for the best, you would get a lot less noise, as the latest cameras out there are very good at high ISO situations. Ever since I saw a recent article in National Geographic about the loss of night, I’ve wanted to go back and experiment more with night photography and see what I could come up with. We’ll see what I can come up with in the future. I will have to check the weather and find a night where can get some interesting photos. Until then, enjoy.
